About Our Church Presbyterian Community Church had its start as the Presbyterian Church of the Siuslaw in 1981 and received its charter from the Presbytery of the Cascades (PCUSA) on April 15, 1984. Our membership and friends celebrates the message of Jesus Christ with a weekly traditional service including instrumental and choir music. We welcome everyone at our various gatherings on Sunday and throughout the week. We support the Florence community with a spirit of inclusion and openness - many groups utilize our space for meetings, rehearsals, concerts, and even the blood mobile.
About the Presbyterian Church God comes to us in free and undeserved favor in the person of Jesus Christ who lived, died, and rose for us that we might belong to God and serve Christ in the world. Following Jesus, Presbyterians are engaged in the world and in seeking thoughtful solutions to the challenges of our time.
Presbyterians affirm that God comes to us with grace and love in the person of Jesus Christ so that we might have eternal and abundant life in God. As Christ's disciples, called to ministry, we seek to continue Jesus' mission of teaching the truth, feeding the hungry, healing the broken, and welcoming strangers. God sends the Holy Spirit, God's Spirit, to dwell within us, giving us the energy, intelligence, imagination, love and purpose to be Christ's faithful disciples in the world.
Our Mission_ At Presbyterian Community Church (renamed from Presbyterian Church of the Siuslaw in 2023), we strive to apply Christ's compassion, creativity, teaching and empowerment through reformed worship in order to do the will of God in our church, our local community, and around the world. As an active, traditional church body, we live out our call through many volunteer organizations in Florence with our time and financial resources. We regularly support Florence Food Share, Florence Free Lunch Program, Habitat for Humanity, Siuslaw Outreach Services, Helping Hands Coalition, Camp Florence, First Step Florence and many others.
